Adriatic LNG at the Offshore Mediterranean Conference 2017

Adriatic LNG at the Offshore Mediterranean Conference 2017: the increasing role of natural gas in the global process of decarbonization

Carlo Mangia, Technical Director of Adriatic LNG, chaired the session on the role and the development of natural gas, within the 13th edition of the Offshore Mediterranean Conference (OMC), the prestigious biennial conference dedicated to the Oil&Gas industry in the Mediterranean Sea, that took place in Ravenna from 29 to 31 March.

The session has been an opportunity to share valuable technical insights, useful to address challenges in the energy field. After the Paris Conference, Governments are working for a considerable reduction of CO2 emissions. Natural gas - which is the cleanest-burning major fuel - can play a major role in the transition to a sustainable energy mix. The Adriatic LNG terminal will have a key role in the supply of energy to Italy and Europe in the near future.

The main event of the upstream industry in the Mediterranean Sea focused on the role of the Mediterranean as a European gas hub, the innovation strategies in the oil&gas industry to tackle the instability in oil prices and the challenge of decarbonization. The event closed with a record attendance of more than 22,000 visitors.
