5 years running with Adriatic LNG

On Sunday October 12 in Loreo, the fifth edition of the Adriatic LNG running circuit ended with the eighth “Camminata tra Calli e Riviere”, a sport contest that is now one of the most relevant competition in the running community of the Veneto Region. Also this new edition of the contest has registered record numbers both in terms of athletes’ participation and supporters attending each stage.

Under the patronage of the Rovigo Province authority and managed by award winning runner Maurizio Preti, this event was born from the co-operation of Adriatic LNG with 6 municipalities of the Polesine area: Porto Viro, Adria, Corbola, Taglio di Po, Porto Tolle and Loreo – plus the municipality of Cavarzere in the Venetian area.

The attendance at the 8 races making up the Circuit has increased with respect to the last edition: 4,700 runners, 3,800 men and 900 women, coming from 25 provinces and 8 different regions. In the competitive races 2,900 athletes were registered while walking events registered 1,800 participants. Also the number of sport clubs involved has increased significantly as it almost doubled, reaching 45 clubs. The oldest athlete was 85 while the youngest was 2, showing that running is good at any age.

The winners of the Adriatic LNG running circuit 2014 in the 4 competitive categories were: for Senior Michele Bedin (Salcus), for Veteran Nicolae Stir (Città di Padova), for Super Veteran Maurizio Marchetti (Assindustria Rovigo) and for the only female category Daria Legnaro (Turristi Avis Aido di Montegrotto). The winning club was Avis Taglio di Po, followed by Salcus and Rhodigium Team.
