The company

Terminale GNL Adriatico Srl, also known as Adriatic LNG, operates  the regasification LNG terminal located offshore Italy,  in the northern Adriatic Sea.

Founded on May 2, 2005 and owned by Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Snam, Adriatic LNG is now a fixture of the Italian industrial landscape, with about 125 employees located in three sites:  Milan, Porto Viro (Rovigo), and the offshore terminal.

Adriatic LNG terminal  became operational in the second half of 2009, and its regasification capacity of 8 billion cubic meters per year (half of nationwide LNG import capacity) guarantees over 10% national consumptions.

Eliminating the necessity of a direct pipeline connection with production sites, the regasification plant enabled Italy to increase the sources of its energy supply, importing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from 8 countries; primarily from Qatar but also from Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago, Equatorial Guinea, Norway, Nigeria, USA and Angola.
